At the United Methodist Creation Justice Summit in Nashville in 2019, a small group gathered to compile a list of which annual conferences had creation care/justice teams. Over time the group expanded to become the Annual Conference Organizing Team and began to consider how to help start and strengthen creation care/justice teams. Thus far, the team has
Developed a seven-part webinar series to help teams form
Hosted quarterly jurisdictional gatherings, where annual conference teams could share best practices
Strategized ways to engage bishops and district superintendents
Developed questions for episcopal candidates
Drafted eight model resolutions for annual conferences
Held webinars and developed brochures on the content and use of the resolutions.
Strong and active teams are working in every jurisdiction! This newsletter contains just a sampling of the exciting work being done. The hopes are that new teams will be inspired, existing teams will be strengthened, and great work on the care of God’s Creation will continue to grow!
