Meet the Creator of the Tips
Crys Zinkiewicz has worked in publishing, primarily focusing on curriculum for youth, for over thirty years. Her long career as an editor at the United Methodist Publishing House gave her a rich understanding of the needs and challenges in local congregations.
In 2019, Crys took part in the Earthkeepers program of UMC Mission. Each Earthkeeper proposes a project and works on it during the event and beyond. The initial Creation Care Tips were written and edited by her, with feedback coming from a team of supporters. Her goal is to provide theologically- and biblically-sound ideas that can be utilized in any congregation in worship bulletins and other church media.
Crys is passionate about gardening and horses, and recently published a book about horses for organization she voluneers with called Saddle Up. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from The Ohio State University and a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Scarritt Graduate School in Nashville, Tennessee.
“A Tip is a seemingly small thing, but when it comes from a church we love, it means something big: This is God’s creation. I can do this to help take care of it.”
—Crys Zinkiewicz
Here’s a Sample Tip
Jesus has told us that we are to care for the “least of these who are members of [Christ’s] family” (Matthew 25:40). Working to ameliorate climate change recognizes that people like Jesus described, those with few resources or connections, will suffer the most from the ravages that are more and more evident.
Jesus calls us to care for humanity and to work for climate justice.
