Creation Justice Work Teams
Get Involved in Building the Movement for Creation Justice in the United Methodist Church
The United Methodist Creation Justice Movement has several volunteer work teams, including several new teams being launched right now. If you’d like to learn more about any of the following or have an idea for a new group that you’d like to start, contact us at umcreationjustice@gmail.com.
Worship Working Group
If you’re interested in finding ways to incorporate creation justice into your weekly worship, join the Worship Working Group! This team has created worship materials for Season of Creation and Eastertide and explores other ways to support pastors and worship leaders across the denomination to incorporate eco-theology into their worship. They are also building relationships to facilitate the development and sharing of creation-focused worship resources with the whole denomination and beyond.
Please contact Kristina Sinks at kristina.sinks@garrett.edu if you would like to get involved. See also: Video clip about the Worship Team
State and Federal Policy Advocacy Team
This team supports and promotes advocacy for Creation Justice policy. They meet to discuss ways to identify and promote state and federal policies consistent with the United Methodist Social Principles that support Creation Justice. This group produced a four-part Faith Advocacy Series in 2020 and guides action alerts sent out by the Communication Team.

Congregational Solar
The Interfaith Solar Campaign is building a national movement of congregations already with solar and those that want to get solar panels. There is strength in numbers. We invite you to join us to help build this movement.
Please contact Lou Stagnitto at 503. 997. 0970 or at strategicsolarguy@gmail.com for more information or to get involved.
Fossil Free UMC
This group explores climate finance strategies such as fossil fuels divestment from banks, pension funds, and other financial institutions as an issue of faith and an area where churches can find ways to act at every level. We work to provide
1) a detailed rationale for church involvement, including ethical/theological justification
2) links to other groups that have similar goals, such as Stop the Money Pipeline and Go Fossil Free, so individuals or faith communities who want to take action have plenty of resources.
