For planners, preachers, decorators and all those who love worship, this year the Season of Creation offers three new features that will add to the experience of this great tradition.

First, the new worship materials that our Worship Team has written for this year’s Season of Creation are ready for you to use, share, and enjoy. This year, the texts feature elements from the natural world in salt, soil, and seawater that will also show up in the readings, altar decorations, hymns, and sermon illustrations you’ll see here.

Second, the Feast of Creation in Christ, or Creation in Christ Sunday launches the season this year! The Consultation on Common Texts has selected new  lectionary readings for the start of September to honor the ecumenical connections that all Christians share because we share a common home on Earth. On September 1, there may be an ecumenical worship service happening near you or check out the livestream of the one that one of our worship planners is hosting in Seattle. More information about that will be found throughout the month here

Finally, our Worship Team wants to hear from you this season. There are two ways you can participate in the team that produced these and other materials.

  1. If you use them, tell us how it goes on this survey
  2. If you want to help design and write the next set of materials, mark August 28 at 9:00 am Pacific (10am Mountain/11am Central/12pm Eastern) on your calendar and plan to zoom with us for a creative writing session. Help create the next UMCJM worship series! Use this link to join in
