October News
Learn and vote. As United Methodists, we are called to protect God’s creation. That means embracing sustainable practices ourselves and leading by example among our peers, in our communities and throughout society. In this October issue, you’ll discover ways to build your knowledge and let your voice be heard at the ballot box.
First, learn. Members of the United Methodist Council of Bishops recently took an important step by completing new training on climate advocacy and action. Called Speaking Up for Climate Action, the course covers everything from climate science to theological mandates and effective advocacy. What did the bishops take away, what comes next, and how can you view the training, too? Read on to find out. Also, register for this month’s Movement Café, which will dig even deeper into the bishops’ experience and their leadership gathering coming up October 20-24.
Next, vote in the Nov. 3 Midterm Election. It’s both a privilege and a responsibility for Americans, and perhaps more than ever, our environmental future will be decided by those we elect. That’s why we’ve gathered resources to help you make educated, preservation-minded choices. It may be the most influential and impactful thing you can do for our planet this fall.
All that and much more below.
