United Women in Faith, Discipleship Ministries, Upper Room, and our Creation Justice Movement have been working together to make the Lay Servant course, Loving People and Planet in the Name of God (LPP) available for jurisdictions, annual conferences, districts, and local churches to use locally.
United Women in Faith has published an updated second edition of the popular resource, Climate Justice: A Call to Hope and Action, edited by Pat Watkins. Originally introduced in Mission u, the first edition was also the backbone of the LPP course the Creation Justice Movement team provided online in 2021 and again in 2022. Team members and presenters were Bob Downs, Pat Watkins, Mike Koob, Karlah Burton, Jaydee Hanson, Jonathan Brake, Lynn Jobe, and Crys Zinkiewicz.
The new edition is available now through UWF’s website.
Discipleship Ministries, responsible for resources for Lay Servant courses, commissioned the development of a Leader Guide for LPP, which Bob Downs and Crys Zinkiewicz have prepared. Upper Room is doing the editorial work and will publish the full course, including the Leader Guide, in early spring of 2023. The Leader Guide makes leading a course on climate justice easy to do and easy to contextualize for the local audience.
January 28 via Zoom and in person, Discipleship Ministries will introduce the LPP course and new resources, with Bob Downs and Crys Zinkiewicz giving an overview of the resource and the possibilities for local use. Learn more about the event and Lay Servant ministries here.
