The Global Mission Fellows Program is seeking a creation care project partner to serve as a two-year host to full-time Fellows in mission service between the ages of 20-30, and young adults to apply for the program.  The US-2 track provides opportunities for service, community building, and growth in discipleship through Fellows’ work assignments and schedules, living arrangements and connection to the local and church communities.

The Core Values of the Global Mission Fellows Program are ENGAGE with local communities, CONNECT the church in mission, and GROW in personal and social holiness with an emphasis on right relationship with God, others, and creation.  Fellows serve with faith-based, church, ecumenical, or community organizations committed to addressing critical justice issues from an intersectional lens. Partner organizations committed to community led transformation, inclusive of voices traditionally pushed to the margins, make strong placement sites.

Current Fellows and applicants are increasingly interested in the intersection of climate justice and racial justice.  Fellows work on garden and gleaning projects to meet the hunger needs of the communities where they serve and many are trained as EarthKeepers.  Former Fellows, Asti White and Emily Burns (photographed below), served in Kalamazoo working with students, community members and church members, to care for gardens intended to meet food scarcity concerns.

If your ministry is interested in supporting leadership development and the opportunity to serve, Global Ministries would love to hear from you.  www.umcmission.org/gmf E-mail program director, Hannah Hanson, hhanson@umcmission.org for more details and to dream together how we can partner!

If you know a passionate young adult ready for service from any background, please share the opportunity they have to serve with Global Mission Fellows.

*Recruitment for Fellows begins in October, with interviews taking place through early spring. Fellows in the 2024 class will start at placement sites in August/September of 2024.  Organizations interested in hosting a Fellow in the US-2 track would ideally apply to be a placement site by October 2023. Placement organizations pay for housing, transportation, work expenses and a monthly stipend of around $800 (with some variation for cost of living in placement city). Global Ministries pays for health insurance, training, continuing education, and relocation expenses.
