The day before General Conference begins in Charlotte, North Carolina – April 22 – is Earth Day. We will gather at First UMC Charlotte and online for a special evening worship service featuring Dr. Musa Dube, scholar of African Eco-feminisms.
United Methodist Creation Justice Movement in partnership with United Women in Faith, Global Ministries, and General Board of Church and Society, invites you for a special Earth Day Vigil on April 22nd at First United Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. You can also view this service from your local church, as the event will be livestreamed. We encourage you to Host a gathering at your church to view the livestream together!
As we come together from all across the world for General Conference, we want to take a moment to be in community and acknowledge our interconnectedness, and reaffirm our commitment to environmental stewardship. This is an opportunity for fellowship, community-building and deepening our engagement as United Methodists with issues of environmental justice.
All attendees of the General Conference, as well as residents of the Charlotte area, are warmly welcome to join us for this meaningful gathering. Whether you’re a delegate or observer during General Conference or simply find yourself in Charlotte during this time, we extend our invitation to you. If you are not attending in person but will like to join us online, we will be streaming the vigil and you can register using this form as well.

5:30pm-6:45pm – Free Vegetarian Dinner – Fellowship Hall, first come, first served
7pm – Vigil for Creation, FUMC Sanctuary and Online
