August 2026 Movement Café

Building Resilience for Extreme Weather

August 19, 2026

9am AK / 10am PT / 11am MT / 12pm CT / 1pm ET

Sponsored by the United Methodist Creation Justice Movement, the informal, virtual space of the Café facilitates conversation, connection, and community focused on creation care and justice issues.

 Building Resilience for Extreme Weather

With the worsening heat and smoke of climate change, more churches are experiencing disruption of their worship activities and community ministries. The question is how do people of faith respond? How do they continue to raise joy and worship God, and serve their communities? Churches across the denomination are doing just that, reworking ministry for a transformational result. That transformation comes under the umbrella of resilience. We will talk to church leaders about their efforts to find transformative hope and new ways to offer abiding hope and build ministries of shelter, sanctuary and resilience in order to do what United Methodists have always done: all the good they can.
